individual therapy

Whether therapy is brand new, or you’re a seasoned pro at this process, finding the right fit matters.

Individual therapy is all about you, and research supports finding a therapist you click with is the biggest predictor of success — even above the type of therapy you do.

finding your fit

I work with folks to find the healing in the parts of their stories that you’re still carrying with you, or the parts that you’re trying to figure out now. We might be a good match if you’re looking for a therapist to

…work through difficult or traumatic memories.

…understand and unpack parts of your identity.

…manage complicated relationships and navigate mixed emotions.

I specialize in working with trauma and identity work - I’m comfortable working with clients with complex relationships with others and themselves.

Areas I work with most often:

- Complex/developmental PTSD & acute PTSD

- Exploring identity & intersections (LGBTQ+, religious background, etc.)

- Anxiety /-Depression - OCD - Managing complex family dynamics

overview of sessions
  • Seeing a therapist is similar to other types of appointments — we pick a time to meet and work towards a set goal in our sessions. A session is a dedicated block of time (usually about 45-60 minutes) to explore symptoms, process life events, and learn skills to cope with the things that come up in life, and work towards your goals.

  • It’s generally going to feel more conversational for most people than a visit with other types of medical providers, especially given the length and frequency of sessions. Frequency can vary, thought I generally meet with clients at regular intervals (either weekly or biweekly) in order to make progress towards goals.

  • The work we do in that block of time is sometimes more structured or less structured, depending on the therapeutic modality and approach we’ve selected.

  • That’s perfectly alright! Part of the screening and intake process is helping to clarify those pieces. Part of the therapy process is helping people find a starting point and treatment options!

  • I am in network with several insurance plans, including most major commercial ones with Medica, Wellfirst, UHC, Aetna, and Cigna. If you have questions about other plans, feel free to reach out directly!

I do not accept Anthem BCBS, Medicaid plans (including managed Medicaid plans for any insurances listed above), and most Medicare Advantage plans.

  • For insurance-based clients, this is going to vary significantly based on your individual healthcare plan. Some plans have a copay, deductible, or coinsurance system. Please contact me directly or visit the FAQ page for more info!
